The last producing tungsten district in the French Massif Central was La Châtaigneraie (Fig. 1). Activity stopped in 1979. The main mines were Leucamp and Enguialès. Other prospects explored in this district included Teissières, Murols, Le Viala, la Granière, Gimax, La Feuillade, Puy St Mary
